Last night I finally got to see Dunkirk with my youngest daughter Rosie who had been desperate to go.
This is not a film review but it is an extraordinary piece of work, a hugely emotional testament to what people did and to how brave and selfless they were.
The reason I go to this cinema is for that inspiration.
I explained to Rosie on the journey home that I honestly think that trips to the cinema to see the right films give me the opportunity to create a better version of myself, to be grateful for what I have and to push on to try to be better again.
There is no question that Dunkirk does this.
When I left the film I had an overwhelming of shame. Ashamed at myself about the things I think are ‘stressful’ or ‘difficult’.
We really have no idea and we should not forget. To me at least, seeing things like Dunkirk remind me of that in a very small way over and over again.
