As I have said in the previous blog, I have just spent a week with my son in Italy, in a freezing cold caravan and it rained a lot of the time and the weather was terrible.
We had the best time.
Just before we left on holiday, I got Callum his first phone (he’s 11). He will go to big school after summer and he will be left to his own devices, so we decided it was time to give him a phone.
One of the major benefits of that was that I could leave my own phone at home when we went on holiday and take his to communicate back to base camp! It meant that I was completely undistracted in my interactions and communications with my 11 year old son.
We had some of the most amazing, heart breaking, hilarious and insightful conversations, you’re ever likely to have, so here are some of the things that I’ve learned.
That last week was a huge privilege for me and I’m heart broken that it’s finished and I have to get back to the hamster wheel and have less energy and have less time to have those conversations.
In a week, I’ll probably achieve what I can in normal life, in 6 months.
What value, that holiday.
