Beyond me..

Written by Colin Campbell | 29/06/23 17:00

Built into me, hardwired and coded, is the restriction to only be able to see the world through my eyes.

My worldview, my narrative, is created by my own mind and looks out to the world and wonders why people do what they do in a way that is different to me.

It means that when you build something or start a project or introduce a new thing, it's hard and emotional and difficult to understand why everybody doesn't run towards you instantly and tell you how good it is and sign up and buy-in.

But the truth is we need to be self-aware enough to understand that everybody else's worldview is in some way fundamentally different to our own. Therefore, we have to develop the capability to look at the world through other people's eyes, at least in part.

This is one of the wonderful things that happens when you begin to develop your self-awareness and when you begin to try and understand other people beyond the selfish urge to do things as best as you can for yourself.

It's the ability to become beyond yourself, the ability to understand that all you're here for really is to contribute to the greater good of everybody else.
