I learned a long time ago with my children that quality time is time with my kids on their terms, not on my terms.
"What would you like to do?"
This was harder when my kids where younger, because they would say “play with tractors or play with my little pony”.
Now it tends to be cinemas or something else, but still in a world where we are overwhelmed and we try to buy our way out of trouble and throw money at a problem, the thing that is most appreciated and probably most valuable is giving them some time.
(N.B for years now my daughters have given me a trip to the cinema for my birthday. They choose the movie and we go together, it is one of my favourite times of the year)
