Reason Why You Are Not Placing Dental Implants After Your Implant Course

In the late 90’s and early 00’s many practice owners in UK dentistry ‘did an implant course’. They wanted to explore the abilities of bringing a service into the practice to assist their patients, develop their teams and develop them as practitioners.

They knew they had experience in all aspects of dentistry but wished to have more confidence and the ability to discuss dental implants with patients and to carry out straightforward procedures both surgically and restoratively.

The problem with this format was that the courses provided just did not support the practitioners to make the jump properly into implant dentistry. Those who are in any way wary of surgical skills had no support and no discussion with anyone else to allow them to select cases that were appropriate to move them forwards into any way so they could place 50 dental implants per year or more.

This was not necessarily because they chose the wrong course, but in fact that very few courses at that time actually supplied the ingredients that they required to make the jump. Many practitioners became disillusioned and excepted that the money spent was ‘sunk costs’ and moved on to other aspects of dentistry where they could develop their skills for the benefits of patients within their own practice and business.

At The Campbell Academy we have considerable experience now of working with practice owners in that situation and helping to take them to the next step into implant dentistry; to benefit not only their patients but their teams and own practicing lives.
