Some things that you need to learn on a dental implant course to help you move to a sustainable situation within your own practice.

  1. What surgical skills you require and whether you have them

  1. What restorative skills you require and whether you have them

  1. How to select patients from straightforward, advanced or complex treatments (to avoid getting into trouble)

  1. Tip and tools in communication and discussion with patients ethically about dental implants

  1. Marketing within your own practice (it’s easier than you think)

  1. How to assess patients properly, both clinically and from a radiograph and how to document this

  1. What your team need to know

  1. How to find out the answers to tricky problems once you have completed the course

  1. A group of like minded people to talk to

If you are missing any elements of this on your initial course then it might be worth revisiting your options for implant dentistry; to make sure you fill in the gaps to allow you to move forward.
