Won't grow up

If you've ever had the opportunity to go to a primary school to talk to children about toothbrushing or dentistry or anything else (and I have many times). One of the greatest things you can do to motivate yourself is ask a class full of young children to hold their hands up as high as they can.

What happens next is you see a group of young people putting their hands so high in the air that they almost dislocate their shoulders to be the highest.

It's instant, no shame, no embarrassment, ‘My hand will be the highest’.

Try it with a group of 25-year-old dentists, and you'll be lucky if half of them even put their hand up.

What happened in between that, and what do we do to hammer the enthusiasm out of them?

Try very hard every day to be the person who puts their hand up as high as they can because it counts.

It will set you apart from everybody else, not because you're better, but because the world needs people who put their hand up as high as they can.
