There are now about a million plug-ins, pieces of SaaS software or bolt-ons that you can have to create more data from whatever it is you're doing or counting or being, and then the data spews out.

It can come from 0 or your practice management system, your own collected data or your telephone system, or any of the other systems that are producing numbers within your business, within your life.

It can turn them into nice charts and graphs, which can show you the ups and the downs and the ins and the outs.

And that is all good.

What we learned a long time ago in our place was to ask the question, what are you going to do with that data?

Paralysis by analysis is a thing, and it's not likely to get less than it is now.

Our job is to decide what data we want, what we need, and what we are prepared to act upon.

Anything other than that is just slop.

Anyone can produce a lot of numbers; it takes somebody with a little bit more wisdom to produce insight.
