Vision and Action (again and again)

Written by Colin Campbell | 15/11/23 18:00

The world provides every one of us with about a billion pieces of inspiration every single day (if we care to take a minute to see).

The inspiration, foresight, and the ability to see what's possible are not what is in short supply for most of us.

What is in short supply for most of us now is the ability to take action against that vision and to make something good happen.

The way the world is designed is it drags us away from the action all of the time to try to give us more inspiration.

Inspiration feels good; it has a short burst of dopamine. You feel like you're heading forward and can see a future where things will always improve, but they only happen if you get the work done.

Last week, I was introduced (from a distance) to some dentists who are famous on Instagram. I never met the individuals themselves; they were pointed out to me by someone else.

The interesting thing is the back story of these guys is not quite what the front story looks like.

They are young, newly qualified (dental age of 3 to 5 years), and they're making their way in the world in front of a camera.

It's hard in that situation because you're distracted trying to produce the content all the time to get the work done.

The vision is great.

I'll be a YouTube superstar, and my money will come from producing content, but the reality is that most of us only ever get the rewards from the action.
