Think tank...

I never, ever wear headphones when I'm riding my bike outdoors.

Years ago, when I was younger, I used to do that or wear one and think it would be OK, but it isn't.

What this means, as I start to ride a little bit longer than I have in recent times, is that I might have two or three hours in my own company, in my own head, just concentrating on the world around me but letting the thoughts come and go.

More and more, we never give ourselves the ability to do that.

We never give ourselves space or time.

If we run or walk, we have headphones in, listening to music or podcasts, taking information in, but we never give ourselves the time to assimilate the information that comes.

I was reading an article on the founder of Black Rock Investments (one of the biggest investment companies the world has ever seen).

He talks about how important it is for the guys at Black Rock at the highest level to put lots of time aside to think and think about things.

We never have any time for that, do we? Too busy making money.

Like Gerry Cinnamon said, "making money till there's no time left to spend… it's all bullshit, but we all still pretend".
