The Value of Values

Written by Colin Campbell | 25/10/23 17:00

Many people think that values are unimportant or some of this fluffy, soft cr*ppy sh*t that we don't need to worry about because we're too busy making money or progress or gaining power or any of the other things that distract us from the importance of what our values actually are.

Revisiting your values and understanding what is important to you, who you want to be, and how you would like to be seen and remembered is far more important than collecting the next few dollars.

The issue comes when you find yourself in conflict with people who you thought you shared your values with.

When you start diverting from someone else's value path, you have to work extremely hard to get back together, or you have to stop and go your separate ways where your values are accepted and let them go to the place where theirs are too.

Tough choices, but the stress and the pain and the trouble and, the hurt that is caused by trying to work side by side with someone whose values differ from yours is just not a price worth paying.
