West Bridgford Colts kids football is the biggest kids football club In the UK with 1100 kids and 92 teams.
I’m lucky enough to be the coach of my son’s Under 9 team, The West Bridgford Colts Mustangs. So i’m one of the 92 coaches and my son is one of the 1100.
We are part of the West Bridgford Colts tribe, we wear the colours, we support the teams, we feel as if we belong.
On Sunday we shared a 1 – 0 defeat in the semi-final of our cup competition and our parents, boys and coaches were devastated, not that it means anything to anybody else but it means something to the tribe.
The day before on the Saturday I sat in the conservatory if our practice with 9 enormously committed, talent and ethical dental practitioners who were completing our Sinus Grafting Course. In that afternoon and in that environment, drinking coffee and diet coke and talking about countless aspects of clinical dentistry, ethical dentistry and the future of dentistry we became (if we weren’t before) friends, peers, colleagues and part of a tribe.
If you hadn’t realised this before, that’s what The Campbell Academy is. It’s not a business; it’s the creation of a tribe in dentistry, particularly related to implant dentistry but not exclusively, of people who are interested in providing advocacy for their patients. Of people who are interested in providing the best treatment that they can for their patients. Of people who understand that it’s not easy and that we all need help and someone to talk to.
Generally people who come on our course become members of our tribe. They’re feeders not eaters so they feed us and we feed them and everybody helps each other. That works.
Everybody wants to be in a tribe. We need tribes and we need people to read us and Seth Godin was absolutely right when he wrote that book.
