The "I" in Team

Contrary to public opinion and tradition, there absolutely is an ‘I’ in team…and it's me.

It's also you, if you have the privilege of being in a team, and also everybody else who's in that team.

I get the philosophy of ‘there is no ‘I’ in the team, but the point is that all teams are made up of eyes, and if we are to be greater than the sum of our parts, then everyone has to come together, and to back a cause or a journey, or a vision to get to a better place. Because of that, everyone's interests must be considered, but the best thing you can do is attract people to your team at the start that want to be on that journey.

Also, understand that as the journey progresses, some people will get fed up and give up and move along, and other people will come in, and so if you're lucky, you will be able to take a ‘collection of I’s’ and build them into a team.

A group of people who are there for their own benefit, but also and simultaneously for the benefit of the others in the team and the people that the team looks after.
