The Black Knight

For some reason or another, my brain went back to Monty Python in the last little while.

I need to consume these things again, and maybe it's generational; maybe it was funny when I was a student, and it's not funny for anyone else now.

If you haven't seen Monty Python and the Holy Grail, it really is worth it, regardless of what the cast may have gone on to do later, and if you haven't seen the Black Knight sketch, it's hilarious (or at least I think it is), but it's resilience.

I was chatting with Hayley about this today, and I remembered The Black Knight sketch, so we watched it on YouTube, laughed at it, and realised that that's us.

When we look back over 1 year, 2 years, or 3 years, it feels like all we're ever doing is getting back up after we've been punched in the face, our plans never stay strict because we get punched in the face all the time like Mike Tyson said, "Everyone has a plan till they get punched in the face".

But after you're punched in the face, you change your plan, but what you don't do is give up because failure is always temporary; it's giving up that makes it permanent.

And so watch The Black Knight, stand your ground, get everything chopped off and keep shouting about the thing you believe in; that's probably the best metaphor for getting through the rest of the year, maybe the rest of your life.
