How it’s Done

It’s Thursday, a few weeks back, at 9 o’clock in the morning and I am speaking to the delegates on our Live Skills Sinus course at The Riverbank in Nottingham in the blazing sunshine.

I’m not supposed to speak on Day 1, it is supposed to be Andy, but it turned out it was his 40th birthday and he happily accepted a couple of hours longer in bed in Manchester and time to open presents with his kids.

11 delegates turned up for this course, paying lots of money for what they expect to be exceptional education pushing them through a glass window into complex dentistry at the highest possible order.

It’s nerving to start with as they find their feet and suss each other out and the course dinner wasn’t until Friday night because we asked them to keep their heads clear for the cadaver day on the Friday.

Thursday is a full-on day with lectures, practical’s and all that stuff before an early start in Coventry on cadaver heads with the maxillofacial surgeons and me on Friday.

That was the best Friday on that course we have ever done.

The course finishes off with my surgery on the Saturday, by time it gets to 3:30pm on Saturday afternoon everyone (especially me) is battered.

One guy turned up on that course last week called Chris Navarro (LINK to website).

Chris has been a fan of our courses for some time and has become a good friend, when I’m fit enough I cycle with him and his mates on a Sunday morning.

Chris had it sorted though. This is the second time he did this course.

He did the first addition of this course in 2014 when he thought it was way too early and it catapulted him forwards into complex implant dentistry. He is now passed the 50 implants a year mark and moving forwards quickly.

What he did though last week was what everyone should do.

He booked 2 patients for implant placement and sinus grafted sites on the Monday after the course and booked me to come and mentor him.

Chris is a good surgeon and a great dentist, he is brilliant with his patients and his team. I hardly had to be in surgery with him for any of Monday as I sat upstairs and did my emails and presentations.

What Chris understands is that investment in time and money in implant dentistry produces results far beyond your expectation.

Remember that 90% of Straumann customers place 15 implants or less a year.

Chris Navarro doesn’t.
