Depth and volume

An interesting conversation we had in the practice this week was the ability to listen to podcasts (or Jordon Peterson’s tip to watch Simpsons episodes) on x2 or x3 speed.

This gives you the opportunity to get more information in a shorter period of time.

It’s probably a little bit like going to an all you can eat pizza place on unlimited time or eating a really lovely meal in a restaurant that doesn’t have sittings.

Sometimes it’s necessary to get the maximum amount in but other times it’s much more important to get the quality.

Recently and of late, I have been engaging in the services of an extraordinary personal trainer called Gregor.

Gregor was an international pole vaulter and is quite an athlete.

Gregor will tell you that it’s the quality of the repetitions, not the quantity that make the difference and create the advantage.

Drinking from a fire hose is fine to gain the maximum amount of volume but substance and depth and subtlety are rarely gained from binging.
