Absolutely Varaible

The problem with absolute principles is that they sometimes struggle when they smash headlong into reality.

In this situation, we then have to decide which rules to bend and which to keep, what to sacrifice and what to maintain.

This is where an expression of values, of vision, is critical.

If you have an absolute rule that you do not work with d**cks (a rule which we do have, but which has to be variable), it is sometimes necessary to weigh up the pros and cons of working with someone that you would rather not in order to protect and secure the team that you're trying to look after.

This is where the wisdom of Solomon comes in.

It’s not enough to have intelligence; it's not enough to have wisdom. You have to be able to figure out which is the correct way forward, where the truth is and how to apply that.

This becomes the burden of leadership, because in order to maintain the culture, you have to be very careful not to throw the values down the toilet.
