Most of the inspiration for me to make something better comes from outside my square box not inside. Yesterday I had a telephone conversation with a pilot who is a Security Officer for Easy Jet.
On the 17th November he is coming to speak as our key note speaker at the star of our Failure Conference discussing the difference between individual failures and system failures, straight out of Black Box Thinking. He was astonished at what we are doing in dentistry and how we are trying to change our culture. He said he wants to speak for free because we are ‘making a difference’. His attitude and views were revolutionary and humbling.
The next day I met a Portuguese dentist whose commitment to his work, his post-graduate education, his family and his ethics were nothing short of astonishing. He put me to shame in the meeting as he recounted (without any hint of arrogance) his dedication to dentistry.
Then I looked at this website I dare you to have a look at it. I bet you it doesn’t look like your website. It turns out the marketing guys were wrong (again).
To make something truly better you have to go above and beyond, outside your box, way, way, way into left field.
